THE FRANCOPHONE CULTURAL CENTER OF VANCOUVER AND THE CJFCB PARTNER FOR THE SUMMER FESTIVAL
Here's a look back at a highly successful collaboration that enabled members of the Youth Council to earn a place among the Canadian francophone artists featured at the Summer Festival, held from June 12 to 22, 2024.
Every year, the Francophone Cultural Center of Vancouver organizes a Summer Festival, which has become one of the biggest cultural and musical events in Western Canada. Thanks to a youth-oriented program, featuring artists such as Bleu Jeans Bleu and Clay & friends, many CJFCB members were able to enjoy a fine evening of French-language concerts.
But for the first time, young Francophones were able to enjoy the event not only as spectators, but also as artists! Thanks to a project of the [Connecte community engagement program] (https://www.cjfcb.com/programmation/connecte), the young people who created the first francophone improv league for adults in B.C. collaborated with the Centre to offer an improv match that opened the festival on Wednesday, June 12, in Studio 16 to a full house! The atmosphere was great, and both teams gave their all to entertain and impress their audience! To make sure you don't miss any upcoming news from the Impro 18+ league, its practices and upcoming matches, we invite you to follow their Instagram account.
On Friday June 14, it was the turn of the young talents from the Crescendo 2024 edition, to take to the stage to open the Amay Laoni and Rhéal Poirier concert. Our young talents, the group La frange, Marley Morales and Marie Bukuru Kimwemwe were able to perform for the first time at Studio 16 in front of a charmed audience! It's with great gratitude that CJFCB thanks the Center for giving its young artists the chance to showcase their art to Vancouver's French-speaking public!
