For the 2021-2022 school year, the student exchange program between Quebec and British Columbia is offered in virtual format.
INFORMATION ON THE VIRTUAL FORMAT OF THE PROGRAM
The virtual format of the exchange program between Quebec and British Columbia is offered to grade 10 and 11 students from French immersion programs.
For the 2021-2022 school year, the exchange program will take place over the course of 6 weeks in October and November 2021. It is centred on two main focuses:
- An individual focus: Each participant is paired with a student from Quebec, with whom they will meet online on a weekly basis to discuss a particular theme.
- A collective focus: Multiple group activities will be organized throughout the exchange period, either between all British Columbia participants, or between all Canadian participants.
Each participant from British Columbia will be paired with a student from Quebec. Paired students are invited to meet by videoconference at least twice weekly on their own time. Pre-determined discussion topics will be suggested each week, as well as activities and challenges to complete that may help guide the conversation.
Each meeting between paired students will take place half in French, and half in English.
Additionally to these individual meetings between paired students, group activities will be organized regularly throughout the exchange period.
Two group activities will take place between participants in British Columbia, both entirely in French. The first activity, which will occur before the start of the program, is an orientation session which will outline all the necessary information regarding the exchange. The second activity will be a session of games.
Group activities will also be organized with all the participants across Canada, including students from British Columbia, Quebec, Alberta and Nova Scotia. These activities will take place half in French, and half in English.
WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE?
