February 2015 : The provincial LIFC tournament is back for its 5th season!

The franco-colombian improvisation league (LIFC), started in fall 2010, was founded by the CJFCB and was inspired by Quebec’s national improvisation league (LNI). Ever since their first training sessions with professionals from the LNI, our young participants have demonstrated a great interest in this art form. Over the years, this interest has grown in the hearts of our improv enthusiasts.

Last season, in 2013, the ‘improvisateurs’ from the Victor Brodeur highschool (Victoria) won the spectacular LIFC trophy.

The LIFC is back for its fifth season and since November, students from Jules Verne (Vancouver), l’école des Pionniers de Maillardville (Port Coquitlam) and l’école d’Au cœur-de-l’île (Comox) have been getting ready. They are participating in training sessions every week in order to be ready for the provincial tournament which will take place during the “Festival du Bois” in Maillardville (February 26 to March 1st 2015).

By coordinating these sessions and by providing the teams with working tools and methods, the LIFC also gives the participating schools the chance to offer, on a regular basis, a cultural extracurricular activity in French. During the next tournament, on Saturday February 28th and Sunday March 1st 2015, 21 students, forming four teams from all over British Colombia, will meet in order to participate in improvisation matches.

This tournament will be open to the francophone community and will allow over a hundred audience members to experience the vibrant francophone culture and life we live in British Colombia. The public is invited to come see the matches which will happen on Saturday February 28th from 12:00 to 5:00 PM and on Sunday March 1st from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for the grand finale.

Do not miss this unique, hilarious and entertaining experience. And above all, bring a lot of friends in order to encourage our young improvisers!
